Christmas lightings are great subjects of photography, be that the elaborate setups in the shopping complexes, extravagant displays in the big departmental stores, or simple ones of the residensial areas. Here are a few pictures from the neighborhoods of Seattle.

Christmas lightings pose a very special situation for the camera exposure setting, for the big difference of the brightness values of the lights and the background. But that same fact also makes it easy to take pictures of the lightings, because the exposure wil be "right" over a wide range of exposure. Also, if you prefer to use auto exposure, you will find that most of the time the pictures are coming out just fine, rather surprizingly a photographer would say.
