Back to India again; I found this pavement artist busy at his work on the pavement of one of the major arterial streets in downtown Calcutta. A crowd of people stood there watching his work, and tossed coins on the picture in appreciation. His art depicts a story of Indian mythology : the creation of the river Ganges with the help of Lord Shiva.

About a dozen of my pictures, including this one, are on display now at the Odegaard Library of the University of Washington, as a part of their exhibit "India - A Confluence of Cultures". The exhibition will go on until August 28, 2003.
