Tulips ! Tulips ! Tulips ! Right now, tulips are at full bloom at the Skagit Valley tulip gardens, where these two pictures were taken. It is about an hour's drive north from Seattle, Washington. Every year in Spring they hold a "Tulip Festival" that goes on for several weeks and attracts thousands of visitors. I first visited it in 1990, and returned there every year after that to enjoy the spectacular view of the tulip gardens. Tulips grow from bulbs, and the stems stand about 1-2 ft tall. They come in many varieties and colors. Tulips originally came from Turkey and later extensively cultivated in Holland. Now it is a very popular flower in many parts of the world. |
