It is pumpkin time of the year here in America. This came from the Irish tradition of
carving faces on turnips at the time of Halloween. When Irish immigrants came to US
they found that pumpkins were more bountiful, so in America turnip became pumpkin.
I (like many others) like the sight of the pumpkin jack-o-lanterns, and the colorful gourds.
The picture above was taken last October at a farm where they were selling these assortment
among other stuff grown in the fields. The variety of shapes, sizes and colors of the gourds
immediately caught my attention and made me to capture them in my camera.

This picture of the little baby among the big pumpkins was taken as a pumpkin patch last weekend.

The mini white pumpkins are one of the less common types. Unlike the first image,
this one lacks variety, but the presence of sun helps to overcome that monotony by adding sharp
contrast of light and shades. I also included the hand of a child to make the image more interesting
as well as to provide a sense of the size.

Finally, here is a Jack-O-Lantern, a carved pumpkin with a candle lit inside it.
