On the Butterfly Wings

Suvro's Bi-weekly PhotoPage is back again, with an image that can not be called a photograph in its strict sense, but it surely is in its core. The image is created with cutouts of a bunch of butterfly pictures that I took during the last few years.

With the use of a photo editing software, you enter the world where you have a lot of control over the image. The placement of subjects, selection of background, control of brightness, contrast and saturation of colors are just a few of them. The final image may lack the authenticity of a photograph, but has a lot of potential in terms of creativity.

This image has a couple of interesting features. First, it is extremely flexible for cropping. You can crop the image area in many different ways, and yet not lose the overall balance or composition. Also, you can rotate the image to left, to right, or upside-down, and it still looks alright. It has no preferred orientation implicit in it.
