Street Photography

Last month a friend of mine forwarded me a link of a street photography website http://www.streetphoto.fsnet.co.uk/links.htm, which has a lot of inspiring images in it. It is difficult to precisely define the much used phrase "Street photography", but it (unlike the name suggests) is not necessarily pictures taken on the streets or of the streets. It is about pictures of people, unposed (and preferably unaware of the photographer's presence), usually in public places in candid situations.

These images, though, were really shot on a street. It is the Chittaranjan Avenue in the heart of Kolkata, India. As the day breaks, the sidewalks on both side of the street turns into a busy marketplace. I took a stroll along that street one morning and snapped some shots. Here are a few of them.
