Wide-angle, normal, or tele! If you find an interesting subject, and it is possible to take multiple shots, then by all means, try them all. Of course, you want to take a normal shot, concentrating on the main subject (in this case, an old man playing a musical instrument). A wide-angle view will also tell you about its surroundings or environment (the staircase, and the yellow colored wall). On the other hand, a tele shot will help you to focus on its character, or finer details (wrinkles on the skin, reflections in the eyeglasses, or patterns in the turban for examples). Cinematographic shoots follows the same concept, even more so, since the viewer would have only a very limited time to view a scene. How much area you need to include depends on what you are trying to show. A close-up of an actor will miss the surrounding people and environment. Similarly, a wide-angle approach will not be able to show the facial expressions or other finer details.
