Even at this eage of electronics and computers, snake charmers remain quite common sights in India. Like many other traditional professions, the art of snake charming is passed on from one generation to the other. They move around with their snake-charming flute and baskets that contains snakes, and offer snake shows at the marketplaces, temples or busy streets. Some snakes have colorful patterns on their body. Others (like pythons) attract attention because of their large size.

Cobras are particularly popular for their large hoods that they display when agitated. The snake charmers, although somewhat immuned to the venom from handling the snakes, remove the poison fangs of the cobras to avoid accidents. Both of these pictures were taken in the city of Jaipur last year.
